Local Shopping Network debuts: Sun Broadcasting, a division of Sun Publications, launches its Local Shopping Network this week.

The 60-minute show features products and services from area businesses available at special “LSN-only” prices. The show is similar to national shopping channels, but allows area residents to “buy local.”

“It was important that the feel of this show be very local, and that we bring special, unique savings to our viewers,” said Executive Producer David Small.

The show debuts with special holiday airings at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26, and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, on Time Warner Cable Channel 4. Thereafter, Local Shopping Network will appear three times a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 4. The show will also appear three times a day, seven days a week, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on HSTV SureWest Channel 7.

The show will also be available on demand on SureWest Channel 247.

“So far, the sponsors of our show have had a lot of fun making their three-minute segments,” Small said. “We’re looking forward to including even more of these shops and service companies on LSN.”

The themes of the first show, running until just before Christmas, are “Holiday Gifts” and “Around the House.” The themes will change monthly.

Kathleen Stegman, president of Midwest Medical Aesthetics, said she joined the effort because she loves giving great deals to local shoppers.

“It gives people a good feeling seeing who they will be dealing with when they have listened to you already, and you can always expect great savings on a shopping network,” Stegman said. “Taping the show was quick and fun. I can’t wait to see the results of offering such great deals to the LSN viewers.”

Local Shopping Network is co-produced by Sun Broadcasting and St. Joseph Cablevision. David Small and Michelle Fitzpatrick serve as the executive producers. David Nevels and Jason Davidson are the producers, and Davidson serves as director. Production is provided by St. Joseph Cablevision and Something Different Media. The hosts are Jennifer Plas and Michelle Davidson.

Some of the deals offered on the first show are: Oreck, $100 off Halo Vacuum; Nuts and Bolts, 25 percent off everything in the store on Nov. 27-28 as well as 50 percent off holiday items; Midwest Medical Aesthetics, 20 percent to 50 percent off Zerona Laser non-invasive fat removal procedures, and $10 off HCG Diet regimen; and Noble House Jewelry, 50 percent off select items for LSN viewers.
